When the Humm family asked me to be part of the Breakfast on the Farm event that they were hosting on their farm in Gratiot County, I didn't hesitate before saying, "yes." My family also farms nearby and this gave me the opportunity to share my love of agriculture with others through the lens of my camera. Humm Farm LLC hosted an amazing and well planned event for visitors to experience. There was a pancake breakfast to enjoy and then lots of things to see and do for all ages. The tour started in the animal tent and then moved on to crop production agriculture. Stations were set up for hands on learning for all the stages involved in planning, planting and harvesting a variety of crops. including corn, soybeans, dry edible beans, sugar beets, cucumbers and wheat. It gave participants the opportunity to learn how farmers carefully manage every stage of crop production to bring a safe and plentiful food supply to their dinner table.
